REC 8-hour Basic First Aid

No previous experience or training is required for this course.

This course is aimed at appointed persons to conform to HSE requirements.

Course Content:

• Choking
• Emergency Breathing
• Serious bleeding
• Heart illness CPR

Continuous Assessment takes place during the course.

16-hour Emergency First Aid

No previous experience or training is required for this course.

It covers the minimum level of First Aid training recognised by the MLTB, BCU, BASI, ASSI, and BOF and most other NGB’s. It also qualifies the holder to be an appointed person at work. (Not to be confused with First Aider at Work, which is a four-day HSE course).

Three-day Aquatic First Aid

The course follows the same basic outline as the Emergency course but with an additional day looking at water specific issues and scenarios. This course will be predominantly based outdoors.

It is of particular interest to paddlers, coaches and guides working in the U.K. and abroad.

No previous experience necessary.

Content as for the Emergency course, plus:

• Environmental factors
• Immersion hypothermia
• Drowning
• Shoulder injury
• Repetitive strain injury
• Remote care
• Water Practicals (you will get wet)

Continuous assessment takes place during this course.

Certificates are awarded for this course and are valid for 3 years.

Three-day Mountain First Aid

The course follows the same basic outline as the Emergency course but with an additional day looking at mountain specific issues and scenarios. This course will be predominantly based outdoors.

It is of particular interest to mountaineers, especially MIA, MIC and British Mountain Guides.

No previous experience necessary.

Content as for the Emergency course, plus:

• Snowblindness and eye injuries
• Frostbite
• Heat exhaustion
• Stretchers
• Remote care
• Mountain practicals
• Related illnesses
