Extreme Care Profile

Extreme Care is primarily a first aid, water & kayak safety training company, we also provide first aid and water safety cover for events and national emergencies. The company was set up By David Hepworth in 2005.

Courses

The courses are aimed at commercial companies, Universities, Colleges, clubs, groups and individuals who have a need for training in these fields. With over 30 years experience of paddling, climbing and caving, as well as instructing, Dave has worked and enjoyed the outdoors with many people of varying abilities, from Pro kayakers in New Zealand, Costa Rica, The USA and Europe through to novice school groups on adventure camps in the Lake District.

Throughout this time he has always thought about the safety aspect of outdoor sports, which is maybe why he doesn’t push things as hard as he once did. So with this in mind he created Extreme Care, a company specifically aimed at developing first aid and water safety skills for all people who work and play in the outdoors.

The First Aid courses are run through the highly successful Rescue Emergency Care scheme. All the courses are developed for the outdoor enthusiast and trained with a high practical content with many scenarios being done outside in the environment you will find yourself. This is to both give the client the relevant practical skills and the ability to actually do what is needed when a real situation arises.

The kayak safety courses were developed to teach self rescue skills to beginners and the intermediate core of kayakers who wish to progress to harder paddling, but don’t have the necessary skills to extricate themselves should things turn bad. The courses are aimed at people who do not wish to progress through the BCU coaching scheme but want to have the relevant skill at a reasonable price.

The water safety courses are a must have for all clients who will find themselves working in and around water. The courses were developed to fill a gap in the market and are aimed at teaching how to save lives and be safe in the water environment. Open and moving water safety courses can be combined for a full package of water safety.

Team Extreme

Team extreme is the name we give to the team of dedicated staff who cover First Aid and Water Safety at the events we work at. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cover many disciplines each bringing their own skills and specialities to the team. They are highly motivated and professional and work tirelessly to make events run smoothly and safely with minimum fuss. They also work on flood rescue for example the Cumbrian floods in November 2009. Which lead to the team being featured on BBC Countryfile with John Craven.
